This week in Taking Flight

It is Week 2 of the Season of Creation. The reason it is so important that we recognise a Season of Creation is because the planet is facing an environmental crisis directly as a result of human activity. Our behaviour and habits are now pushing the planet into an anthropogenic ecological crisis which is seen in the pollution of the natural environment, an accelerated species extinction, climate change, and resource depletion.

Today’s lectionary readings encourage us to turn our back on the arrogant pride that has resulted in the exploitation and depletion of the world’s resources. God the creator is calling us to be responsible humble stewards of the earth, and to be servants of one another. Included in Taking Flight this week are resources for children, youth, small groups and a worship service with creative and colourful ways to explore this theme.
